FAQ
The questions a treasurer should ask.
Including the awkward ones. If yours isn’t here, ask it in a 15-minute chat — you’ll get a straight answer.
Do we have to leave Humanitix or TryBooking?
No — that’s the whole design. Your ticketing platform keeps selling tickets and taking payments. ConferKit imports its attendee list (a spreadsheet) and runs the conference day on top. Nothing about your money moves. How the model works.
What if we grow past 2,000 attendees?
Nothing bad. Pricing is flat — a good year doesn’t cost you extra. The 2,000 ceiling exists so the app stays fast, not to charge you more: heading past it, we’ll agree a number in advance. No automatic surcharges, ever.
Who owns our data?
You do. Attendee lists, program, check-in records, certificates — it’s your association’s data, yours to download as a spreadsheet whenever you want. We don’t sell it, share it, or use it for anything except running your event. Your member and payment records stay in your ticketing platform and were never ours to begin with.
What happens if ConferKit shuts down?
A fair question to ask any small vendor — here’s the honest answer. Your money, registrations and member records live in your ticketing platform; what lives with us is the conference-day app, and all of it downloads as spreadsheets. Worst case, you lose an app, not your records. And if we ever wind down, you get notice ahead of your event cycle plus a full export — annoyed, but not trapped.
Do attendees need to download an app or create an account?
Neither. Attendees open a link, browse the program, and build their schedule — no sign-up. It can sit on their home screen like an app, and their schedule keeps working when the venue wi-fi dies. Their check-in QR code arrives by email.
What does it not do?
We publish the boundaries: no payments, no registration, no ticketing (your existing platform does those); no abstract or peer-review management; no social networking feed; no app-store app (it runs from a link on purpose). If those are dealbreakers, we’ll point you at the tools that do them well.
How long does setup actually take?
For a typical association conference: an afternoon. Import your attendee spreadsheet, add the program, set rooms and branding, and publish. The four steps are genuinely the whole process.
Is our attendee data kept secure?
Yes. Each association’s data is walled off in its own area — enforced in the database itself, not just on the screen. Attendees use QR codes instead of passwords, so there are no attendee passwords to steal. And payments never touch us, so we hold far less sensitive data than a registration platform would.
Who is behind ConferKit?
ConferKit is built and hosted by HiveWise, a Melbourne product studio (Alive and Thrive Trust Pty Ltd, ABN 32 684 676 440). It exists because the software built for professional event companies never fit — in size or price — the volunteer committees who actually run association conferences.
Can several associations in our network share it?
Yes — each association gets its own branded, separate space on the same platform. That’s exactly how state chapters and sister bodies should buy it: solve the problem once, share the pricing conversation. How pricing works.
Still weighing it up?
Bring the hardest question your committee will ask. If the honest answer is that ConferKit isn’t right for your event, we’ll say so on the call.
