Prof. Helen Marsden

Helen leads the Classroom Interaction Lab at Deakin, where her team has filmed and coded over 2,000 science lessons across Victorian government, Catholic and independent schools. Her research on student questioning has shaped the Victorian Academy's teaching excellence program, and she remains a registered teacher who still takes a Year 7 class every Friday morning — she says it keeps the research honest. Her book *Who's Asking?* won the 2024 AARE award for research impact.
